写真家のWolfgang Tillmansが12インチ作品をリリース

1968年生まれのドイツのフォトグラファーWolfgang Tillmansは、2000年にフォトグラファーとして初めてのターナー賞を受賞したり、その作品がベルリンの有名クラブ「Panorama Bar」に展示されている21世紀を代表するフォトグラファーだ。

WolfGang TillmansがInstagramにて12インチレコードをリリースすることを発表した。

In January 2015 after a 26 year pause I started making music again. Out this week is the first result: a 12” vinyl and digital release EP of 5 tracks, called '2016 / 1986 EP’ It contains two songs I made this, last year: ‘Make It Up As You Go Along’ and ‘Triangle / Gong / What’. The AA side carries three songs I made and recorded with Bert Lessmann in 1986 'Fascinating This Time’, ’Stranger’ and my favourite from back then ‘Time Flows All Over’. ‘Make It Up As You Go Along’ is partially made of recordings of a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL printing press during the production of the Abstract Pictures book. "Triangle / Gong / What" is an experimentation made up of a special alloy triangle, a 999 fine gold gong and a vocal line. The 1986 songs were recorded on a simple cassette recorder and were remastered and reconstructed by Tim Knapp and Klaus Knapp of Trixx Studios Berlin, creating a mix of my original voice and Bert’s synth from 1986 with replayed instruments in 2016. 2015年、彼は26年ぶりに音楽制作を再び始めた。その最初の作品が今回の12インチとデジタルで発売される『2016 / 1986 EP』だ。このEPのA面には"Make It Up As You Go Along"と"Triangle / Gong / What"が収録されている。AA面には1986年にBert Lessmannと共作した"Fascinating This Time"、"Stranger"、"Time Flows All Over"の三曲が収められている。
彼は2011年に発表した『Abstract Pictures』 の制作に使用したハイデンベルグ社の印刷機「Heidelberg Speedmaster XL」の音をサンプリングし、"Make It Up As You Go Along"に用いたと言う。印刷機の小気味よいリズムが効果的に使用されているダンストラックだ。
