韓国出身で東京を拠点に活動しているエレクトロミュージシャンmachìnaが、今年3月に発表されたアルバム『Archipelago』に続く最新作『Willow』を本日リリースした。
machìnaは大学でジャズを専攻、そしてK-popシンガーとして活動した後にエレクトロニック・ミュージックに転向。詩的な感覚のボーカルとモジュラーシステムによって作成されたアナログサウンドによって、彼女の音楽は、テクノロジーと時間、そして感情のハーモニーを模索する。彼女の音楽は国際的な支持を得ており、2018年と2019年にはSXSWに出演を果たした。さらに、2019年にリリースされたアルバム『Archipelago』はPitchfork Mediaでも紹介された。
今回のアルバム『Willow』について、彼女は「『Willow』は時間、空間、不安の基本的なアイデアをテーマにしたコンセプチュアルなリリースです。各トラックは、これらのアイデアを音楽的かつ詩的に喚起し、言葉と音が等しい尺度を保持する表現の調和を見つけることを目的としています」と綴っている。また、アートワークはYOSHIROTTENが手がけている。
